Dwayne A. Briscoe Jr., a 16-year-old African American male, had his life cut short on the afternoon of Monday, March 2, 2020, in his hometown of Chester, Pennsylvania. Known to his loved ones as 'Nukies' or 'Wop Wop,' he was a tenth-grade student at Chester High School, remembered for his vibrant personality and ambitious nature.
The fatal incident occurred shortly after 12:00 p.m. in the 2600 block of McCarey Street.
Dwayne was outside when he was struck by multiple gunshots, including wounds to his head and chest. He was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A second person sustained graze wounds during the shooting and was treated and released from the hospital.
The investigation into Dwayne's murder remains active. Law enforcement has indicated that they believe the shooting was connected to an ongoing turf dispute, and they have not ruled out the possibility that Dwayne was a victim of mistaken identity. As of now, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. Detectives with the Chester Police Department and the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division continue to seek information from the public to help solve this homicide.
