In the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, a visit to a friend's home turned tragic for Andre Adams, a 29-year-old Black man. On the cold winter day of February 3, 2016, the course of many lives was irrevocably altered by a sudden act of violence. While inside the residence, an unknown man, described as a Black male in his 20s, brazenly walked in through a door that had been left unlocked.
The intruder, without warning, opened fire, his target being Andre.
Two gunshots shattered the quiet of the home, both striking Andre in the head. He collapsed onto the living room floor as the gunman quickly made his escape. The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot, running east on Fillmore Street and then toward Tackawanna Street, disappearing into the city's landscape. Emergency personnel who arrived at the scene pronounced Andre dead shortly after the shooting.
In the aftermath of the tragic event, investigators sought to piece together the moments leading up to the fatal encounter. However, the identity of the shooter remained elusive. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Andre Adams, leaving his family and community searching for answers and a sense of justice that has yet to be served. The case remains an open and unsolved homicide.
