In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Philadelphia, the life of 26-year-old Kashian Lewis was tragically cut short. Just before 12:30 a.m., police responded to a call on the 1300 block of Walnut Street, where they found Lewis unconscious. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, torso, and legs. He was quickly transported to Jefferson University Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at 12:51 a.m.
The investigation into the shooting
revealed that the incident had occurred around the corner from where Lewis was found, at the intersection of Juniper and Chancellor streets. At the scene, investigators discovered 21 spent shell casings, indicating a barrage of gunfire. A gun was also recovered at the location. Authorities were seeking a metallic blue pickup truck that was seen on surveillance footage heading south on Juniper Street shortly after the shooting, as it was believed to be connected to the incident. A significant amount of cash was found on Lewis's body.
As of the initial reports, the shooting remained under investigation. No arrests had been made, and police had not publicly identified any suspects in the death of Kashian Lewis. The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear.
