Edward Baker Jr., Addaleigh's ex-boyfriend, was identified as the primary suspect. Baker, who was 26 years old at the time, confessed to breaking into Addaleigh's apartment with a gun and knife and waiting for her to return home from work. When she arrived, Baker shot her twice and then slit her throat. He was arrested in Winchester, Kentucky, after a confrontation with police and was later brought back to Pennsylvania to face charges.
Baker was charged with multiple offenses, including criminal trespass, burglary, possession of a firearm by a person not to possess, rape, and first-degree murder.
