On February 17, 2017, at approximately 1:12 a.m., Philadelphia Police Officers responded to a bar on the 2200 block of West Indiana Street in North Philadelphia. Upon arrival, they discovered Eugene Farmer, a 46-year-old Black male, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, Eugene did not survive.
Investigations revealed that a male suspect, approximately 5'9" with a heavy build, entered the establishment wearing a dark green hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The suspect's hood was tied tightly around his face, concealing his identity. Upon entry, he confronted Eugene, leading to a physical altercation during which the assailant fired two shots, striking Eugene twice. Following the shooting, the suspect threatened the bartender and demanded money from the cash register. After obtaining $175, he proceeded to take Eugene's wallet and car keys before fleeing the scene.
Eugene Farmer, who resided on the 5500 block of Hunter Street in Philadelphia, had recently begun managing Monique's Lounge alongside his father, William Berry, starting on February 1, 2017. Described by his father as "a person who would give you his last and not think twice about it," Eugene was a father of two and known for his generosity and dedication.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of 46-year-old Black male, Eugene Farmer. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in identifying and apprehending the suspect responsible for this crime.
