On the morning of August 7, 2024, a shooting incident occurred in North Philadelphia that claimed the life of 32-year-old Daniel McHale. The male victim was found on the 1100 block of West Girard Avenue around 8 a.m. suffering from three gunshot wounds to his chest. Philadelphia Police officers transported him to Temple University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.
Known affectionately as Kel to many, and as Mannyunk to his mother, Robin Clark, Daniel
was a man remembered for his kind heart and his willingness to look after the elderly in his York Town community. He had grown up in the family home that his grandparents had purchased, a home where all of his mother's children were raised. From the age of seven to fourteen, he played football for the Black Hawks, becoming a familiar face in his neighborhood. His mother fondly recalled a time he tattooed her name on his neck as a surprise, a testament to their close bond.
In the wake of the shooting, the Philadelphia Police Department began an investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward. A $20,000 reward was offered for information that would lead to an arrest and conviction in the case. While initial reports indicated that no immediate arrests were made and information about a possible suspect was not shared, a suspect was later taken into custody. The family is currently engaged in the court proceedings that have followed the arrest.
