In the autumn of 2017, a young Black man's life was cut short in a tragic act of violence in Philadelphia. Twenty-five-year-old Robert Vicks was found on the first floor of a residence on the 1900 block of Redfield Street on the evening of Sunday, October 8, 2017. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Responding Philadelphia Police officers quickly arrived at the scene just after 10:30 p.m. and transported him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Robert Vicks succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead that night. He had resided on the 5400 block of Wyalusing Avenue in Philadelphia.
In the years that have followed, the investigation into his death has remained open. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Robert Vicks, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The case continues to be an unsolved homicide, leaving a family and community still seeking answers and justice for their loss.
