On a summer evening in Philadelphia, the life of 16-year-old Symir Walker was tragically cut short. The male teenager had spent the night of June 15, 2018, doing what he loved most: playing basketball at the Palumbo Recreation Center in the Hawthorne section of South Philadelphia. Around 10:30 p.m., as he and a 12-year-old friend were walking home, a vehicle approached and shots were fired in their direction on the 1200 block of Fitzwater Street, just a few blocks from Symir's own home.
