Symir Walker, a 16-year-old Black male, was tragically murdered on the night of June 15, 2018, in Philadelphia, PA. He was fatally shot while walking home from a basketball game at the Palumbo Recreation Center. Walker was struck once in the chest by an unidentified gunman, and despite being rushed to Jefferson University Hospital, he was pronounced dead at 11:02 p.m. A 12-year-old friend who was with him at the time was also shot but survived with injuries to his leg.
