In a quiet Philadelphia neighborhood, the life of 4-year-old Maxillië Alcindor, a young female, was tragically cut short on October 14, 2019. On that day, she, along with her 10-month-old sister Damaya and their father, Max Alcindor, were found shot to death inside their Tacony home. The devastating act was carried out by their mother, 28-year-old Damyrra Jones.
The events of that fatal day unfolded as a result of what police believe was a domestic dispute, possibly stemming from disagreements over child support. Jones had legally purchased a handgun shortly before the killings. She used this weapon to shoot her two young daughters and their father in the head. After committing the murders, Jones turned the gun on herself in a failed suicide attempt.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene on Hegerman Street, they discovered a horrific scene. While in the back of an ambulance, Jones confessed to the killings and told first responders not to resuscitate her. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but was expected to survive her self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Following the incident, Damyrra Jones was arrested and faced the legal consequences of her actions. She was charged with three counts of murder for the deaths of her daughters and their father. The community was left in shock and mourning, grappling with the loss of two innocent children and their father at the hands of a family member.
