In the city of Philadelphia, a 40-year-old man named Elliott Colon was fatally shot on September 22, 2020. The shooting occurred at 90 E Silver Street. Despite the passage of time, the circumstances surrounding his death remain largely unclear. To date, there has been no public information released by authorities regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the killing of Elliott Colon. The case has left many questions unanswered for his family and community.
In a separate and unrelated incident on New Year's Day, a violent confrontation in Northeast Philadelphia led to the death of 52-year-old Luis Colon. The tragic events unfolded on the 7100 block of Oakland Street, stemming from a dispute involving his stepdaughter. A group of individuals, who were relatives of the stepdaughter's ex-boyfriend, arrived at Colon's residence to confront her.
The situation quickly escalated as a verbal argument turned into a physical assault on the front lawn. Reports indicate that Cara Williams-Reeves, 44, and another woman began assaulting Colon's wife and stepdaughter. When Luis Colon attempted to intervene to protect his family, he was confronted by Tyriq Williams and 21-year-old Quadir Tull, who both brandished firearms. In response to the threat, Colon armed himself with his own gun, and a shootout erupted between the three men.
During the exchange of gunfire, Luis Colon was struck multiple times in the chest. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before noon. Quadir Tull also sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was driven to a different hospital in a dark-colored Chrysler 300, along with Tyriq Williams who had been shot in the hand. Tull was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Following the deadly shootout, Philadelphia police arrested Tyriq Williams and Cara Williams-Reeves. They were both charged with murder and other related offenses for their roles in the incident that resulted in the deaths of Luis Colon and Quadir Tull. The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office announced that Tyriq Williams faced two counts of murder, conspiracy, and weapons charges, while Cara Williams-Reeves was charged with third-degree murder, aggravated assault, and other offenses.
