In the early morning hours of Monday, June 22, 2015, a 21-year-old man named Marquan McDaniels was found shot to death in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia. The incident occurred at approximately 1:19 a.m. on the 1700 block of Scattergood Street, an area known for drug activity and violence. Police responded to a report of a shooting and discovered McDaniels lying between parked cars with multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics arrived shortly after, but McDaniels, a resident of the
nearby 1600 block of Bridge Street, was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time, his death was one of two fatal shootings that occurred in Frankford during what was described as a particularly violent weekend in the city.
According to police sources, McDaniels was known to law enforcement. Court records indicated that he had been arrested at least four times since November 2013 on charges that included auto theft, drug possession, and aggravated assault. He received probation for the theft cases and a short prison sentence for drug possession. An aggravated assault charge against him was dismissed after the victim repeatedly failed to appear in court.
Despite the ongoing investigation into his murder, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or determined a motive for the shooting. As of now, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Marquan McDaniels.
