On July 3, 2023, 15-year-old Daujan Brown tragically lost his life during a mass shooting in Philadelphia's Kingsessing neighborhood. The assailant, clad in a bulletproof vest and armed with an AR-15-style rifle and a handgun, opened fire indiscriminately, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including Brown, and injuring two children.
