On the evening of May 28, 2023, a tragic shooting occurred in Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood, resulting in the death of 66-year-old Ivan Hall and injuries to three 15-year-old boys. The incident took place just before 9:30 p.m. on the 4600 block of Mulberry Street, near Wilmot Veterans Park. Philadelphia Police officers responded to the scene and found Ivan Hall lying in the street with a fatal gunshot wound to the head; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three teenage boys each sustained multiple gunshot wounds. One was shot once in each foot, another three times—in the ear and each leg—and the third three times in both legs and the buttock. All three were transported to local hospitals and were listed in stable condition following the incident.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not identified any suspects or established a motive for the shooting. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to investigate and urges anyone with information to come forward by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477).
The community has expressed deep concern over the ongoing gun violence in the city. Margaret Adkins-Thompson, a neighborhood block captain, remarked, "This is really getting out of hand... It's hard to celebrate anything nowadays with this gun violence. It's really, really terrible."
