On the evening of New Year's Eve 2020, a Norristown family gathering was shattered by a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 36-year-old Rasheed Bundy. The male victim was discovered by police in an alleyway on Markley Street at approximately 9:42 p.m., having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy later confirmed that the cause of death was homicide resulting from these injuries.
The investigation into Bundy's death quickly focused on Nyjeah White, the 27-year-old former boyfriend of Bundy's sister. It was reported that White had been in attendance at a party at the residence that evening. Investigators learned that Bundy had left his home, which was just two doors away from the alley, with the intention of speaking with White shortly before the shooting occurred. Surveillance footage from the area captured a dark-colored sedan, matching the description of White's vehicle, leaving the scene immediately after the gunshots.
An arrest warrant for Nyjeah White was issued on January 2, 2021. After a search that lasted several months, White was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in the Germantown section of Philadelphia on March 19, 2021. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and firearms-related offenses. Following his trial, Nyjeah White was convicted for the murder of Rasheed Bundy and was sentenced to life in prison in April 2023.
