Shaquille Mauri Barbour, an 18-year-old Black male from Philadelphia, PA, was fatally shot on June 6, 2021. Shaquille, known for his enterprising spirit and radiant smile, was riding his dirt bike back from picking up a hoagie at a corner store when he was shot 13 times by two gunmen in a car on the 1700 block of 68th Avenue in West Oak Lane. He was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center but was pronounced deceased at 5:00 p.m.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m., just one week
shy of Shaquille's high school graduation. His older sister, Aminah Barbour, who had been planning to meet him at a family barbecue, heard the gunfire while driving up the street and found Shaquille lying in the street. She cradled his body and prayed over him as he passed away.
The Philadelphia Police Department responded to the scene and launched an investigation. Despite their efforts, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved. Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Philadelphia Police Department. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to seek justice for Shaquille.
Shaquille was known for his determination and hard work, often taking on various jobs to support his family. He had dreams of joining the Marines and later developing a job training program for the city's homeless population.
