In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 29, 2021, the life of 34-year-old Corey Crippen was tragically cut short in a hail of gunfire in Philadelphia's Mantua neighborhood. A Black male, Crippen was discovered unresponsive in an alleyway situated behind the 3700 block of Aspen Street. The call came in to Philadelphia Police officers at approximately 4:44 a.m., and upon their arrival, they found Crippen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation revealed the
brutal nature of the attack; Corey Crippen had been shot at least 14 times throughout his body. Responding officers quickly transported him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in their patrol vehicle, but his injuries proved to be too severe. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Crippen succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead that morning. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Dekalb Street in Philadelphia.
As of now, the investigation into Corey Crippen's murder remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting. Details regarding a potential motive or any identified suspects have not been released to the public. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to appeal for assistance, urging anyone with information, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, to come forward to help bring those responsible for this violent act to justice.
