On May 22, 2023, at approximately 3:08 a.m., Philadelphia Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 1700 block of North Ruby Street in the Wynnefield neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims lying in the street, both suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as 30-year-old Alhaji Mohamed Koroma, was transported to Lankenau Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 3:33 a.m.
The second victim, 26-year-old Ahmed "Meddy" Koroma, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Investigators at the scene recovered evidence indicating that at least eight shots had been fired. A firearm was also found, which had been reported stolen during a robbery several years prior. Additionally, items such as a spark plug, welding hammer, and welding gloves were discovered nearby, though their connection to the crime remains unclear.
As of December 2024, no arrests have been made in connection with the deaths of Alhaji and Ahmed Koroma. The case remains unsolved, and the Philadelphia Police Department continues to seek information from the public.
