On a tragic evening in Philadelphia, on September 18, 2021, a 30-year-old Black male named James Wilkerson lost his life in a burst of gunfire. The incident unfolded on the 2600 block of North 12th Street, where Wilkerson was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead that night.
The violence of that night was not limited to a single victim.
Alongside Wilkerson, another man, 23-year-old Raajii Crosland, was also found with gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A third individual, a 29-year-old male, was also shot, sustaining wounds to his calf, shoulder, and shin, leaving him in critical condition. The Philadelphia Police Department has been actively investigating the triple shooting as an unsolved murder.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case remains open, and a sense of unresolved grief hangs in the air for the families of the victims. Detectives have made public pleas for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward to help bring justice to James Wilkerson and Raajii Crosland. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
