Arthur B. Crusey, a 25-year-old policeman with the Los Angeles Police Department, tragically lost his life on May 25, 1911. Crusey had been on duty for only three months when he encountered a suspect attempting to break into a pawn shop to steal a bicycle. The incident occurred at the intersection of Commercial Street and Main Street. As Crusey attempted to apprehend the suspect, he was shot and critically wounded.
