Amiere Tyhee Bibbs, an 18-year-old male of African American ethnicity from Reading, Pennsylvania, tragically lost his life on March 14, 2022. Bibbs was a student at Governor Mifflin High School and an accomplished basketball player. He was also enrolled in a welding program at BCTC and had a passion for music and sitcoms. Bibbs was known for his everlasting smile and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
The incident occurred at Brookline Park in Reading, where a large group of teens had gathered to watch a prearranged fistfight. Following the fight, a brief verbal altercation took place, and three individuals—Anthony Boria, Henry Madera Jr., and Julian Evans—began firing guns into the crowd of spectators. Bibbs was one of four teens shot during the incident, and he was found dead at the scene. The other three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
In the aftermath of the shooting, extensive investigations were conducted, and evidence was gathered, including witness testimonies, video footage, and ballistics analysis. On October 31, 2024, Anthony Boria and Henry Madera Jr. were each convicted of third-degree murder, aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, perjury, false swearing, and recklessly endangering another person. They were found not guilty of conspiracy. Julian Evans' case is still pending in court.
The tragic death of Amiere Bibbs sent shockwaves through the community, and the convictions of Boria and Madera have brought some measure of justice for Bibbs and his family.
