In the early morning hours of August 13, 2024, the life of 27-year-old Darius Henson Francis, a Black / African American male known affectionately as 'Di Kartel,' was tragically cut short. At approximately 12:50 a.m., Reading Police Department officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Maple Street in Southeast Reading, Pennsylvania, following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Francis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to Reading Hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 25, 1997, Darius was a beloved figure in his community and to his family. He was remembered for a helpful nature that he carried with him from a young age into his adult life. A talented and successful photographer and content creator, he used his work to express his creativity and connect with others. He shared a particularly close bond with his mother, Sthrudy, and his younger sister, Apryl.
The investigation into the shooting death of Darius Francis is ongoing.
