Erin Michelle Walker, a 36-year-old female teacher from York, PA, tragically lost her life on May 21, 2022. Erin was a beloved social studies teacher at Central York High School, where she had worked for 13 years. She was known for her dedication to her students and her positive impact on the school community. Erin was also a single mother to her 3-year-old daughter, Charlea Evelyn Walker.

The incident occurred at Erin's home on the 400 block of Hill Street in Spring Garden Township. According to police reports, Erin was shot multiple times by her 59-year-old neighbor, Daniel Berry, during an argument over a shed that Berry had placed in his backyard. The shed had caused one of Erin's phone lines to become disconnected, leading to multiple disputes between the neighbors. The argument escalated on the evening of May 21, resulting in Berry shooting Erin before turning the gun on himself.

The police investigation revealed that Berry had called the police department on May 20, asking for a zoning officer to inspect the placement of the shed. The officer advised Berry to contact the zoning office and follow the appropriate process. Despite this, the dispute continued, and the tragic incident occurred the following day.

The Central York community was deeply affected by Erin's death. Students, staff, and community members gathered at Central York High School to remember and celebrate Erin's life. A GoFundMe fundraiser was organized to support Erin's daughter, Charlea, and it raised over $63,000. Additionally, the Erin Walker Memorial Scholarship was established to honor her memory and support students in need.

Erin's legacy lives on through the positive impact she had on her students and the community. Her dedication to education and her unwavering support for those around her continue to inspire those who knew her.
