In a quiet home in Manchester Township, York County, a deeply disturbing tragedy unfolded, claiming the life of 3-year-old Kelly June Williams. The little girl was discovered deceased in a bedroom of the residence on Greenbriar Road on the evening of Sunday, April 23, 2017. Authorities had been called to the home for a welfare check after a planned child custody exchange in Virginia did not occur as scheduled.
The person who was supposed to meet with the residents for the exchange was the child's mother, who had recently filed for full custody of Kelly.
Upon their arrival at the house, police made a grim discovery. Through a window, an officer could see a woman, later identified as 50-year-old Tammy June Williams, Kelly's grandmother, lying unresponsive on a couch with a gunshot wound. This prompted a forced entry into the home, where the full scope of the tragedy was revealed. In addition to Tammy, officers found Kelly June Williams dead in a bedroom, also from a gunshot wound. The deaths of both Kelly and her grandmother were ruled as homicides by the York County Coroner.
The investigation pointed to a murder-suicide orchestrated by Kelly's father and Tammy's son, 21-year-old Frankie Thomas Williams. He was found in another bedroom with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide. Police believe the killings were a planned act or a pact between Frankie and his mother, Tammy. Court documents revealed that Frankie had previously threatened to kill Kelly's mother and her family if she attempted to gain custody of the child. The devastating event cut short the life of a young girl, leaving a community to grapple with the shocking loss.
