In the winter of 2021, the life of 19-year-old Jaidin M. Altland was tragically cut short in a shooting in York, Pennsylvania. On the night of Saturday, December 4th, violence erupted on the 500 block of East Boundary Avenue. Altland, a young man from the area, was struck by gunfire, as was a 15-year-old girl who was with him.
Following the shooting, both victims were transported in a private vehicle to WellSpan York Hospital. While the teenage girl was expected to survive her injuries, Altland’s wounds proved to be fatal. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead at 11:09 p.m. that same evening, just three days after his nineteenth birthday.
In the immediate aftermath, the York City Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. Law enforcement officials appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Jaidin's death. However, in the years that have followed, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the case.
