On a warm evening in Philadelphia, on Sunday, May 29, 2022, the lives of a father and son were tragically cut short in a hail of gunfire. Nine-year-old Jamel Parks and his 37-year-old father, Gerald Parks, were returning home from a Memorial Day weekend cookout. They had just parked their blue 2019 Nissan Sentra on the 2100 block of Carver Street, mere steps from their front door, when another vehicle pulled alongside them and unleashed a barrage of at least 13 shots.
