In a quiet Washington Heights apartment, a story of love and life came to a brutal and tragic end for Ramona Rodriguez Reynoso, a 50-year-old Hispanic woman. Remembered by her grieving family as a kindhearted, hardworking, and giving mother of two and a grandmother, her life was violently cut short in April 2021. Neighbors, who described her as a lovely and friendly person, were left in shock after hearing a dispute and screams from her apartment on West 167th Street.
Inside the home she
had shared for years with her long-term partner, German Reynoso, police made a gruesome discovery. Ramona was found in the bathtub, having been both shot and stabbed in the head. The severity of her injuries was such that authorities initially suspected a machete attack. She was pronounced dead at the scene, turning a once peaceful home into a place of tragedy.
In the days that followed, a manhunt was launched for German Reynoso, who was quickly named as the primary suspect in Ramona's murder. Wanted posters appeared in the neighborhood, warning that he was considered armed and dangerous. The search for the 57-year-old came to an end 72 hours later when he was apprehended by police at a Days Inn hotel in Methuen, Massachusetts. During a court hearing in Massachusetts, Reynoso reportedly stated, 'Just depression has pushed me a lot.'
German Reynoso was subsequently charged with the murder of the woman with whom he had shared his life and two adult daughters. Back in their Manhattan apartment, a note was discovered on a table in which Reynoso admitted to the killing, leaving a final, chilling confession to the violent act that ended a decades-long relationship and left a family and community in mourning.
