In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Philadelphia, a life was tragically cut short, leaving a community searching for answers. On June 30, 2024, Carlton Brown, a 43-year-old man, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his head on the 1400 block of Kerper Street. The discovery was made after a civilian flagged down patrolling officers in the vicinity of the 6700 block of Castor Avenue to report a body on the highway.
The officers were directed to Kerper Street where they found Brown, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:24 a.m. He was a resident of the 1300 block of Knorr Street.
The Philadelphia Police Department has since launched a homicide investigation and is actively seeking a suspect in connection with the shooting. Authorities have described the person of interest as a Black male who was wearing a distinctive black hoodie that featured a picture of Marilyn Monroe in a Philadelphia football jersey with the number 11. This individual was reportedly last seen fleeing the area on a bicycle.
As of now, no arrests have been made in the case. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and have offered a $20,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Carlton Brown's death. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting.
