A late-night drive for two brothers in Philadelphia turned into a tragedy, leaving one of them dead in what police have described as a road rage shooting. Eddie Rodriguez, a 21-year-old male, was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by his brother on the evening of Thursday, December 2, 2021. As they traveled along Roosevelt Boulevard, their car was struck from behind by another vehicle.
Following the minor collision, the two brothers pulled their car over to the side of the road to
exchange information with the other driver. The other vehicle, described as a dark-colored car, pulled up alongside them. Instead of a civil exchange, a person from the second car fired at least two shots into the brother's vehicle. The bullets tore through the car, striking Eddie Rodriguez. His brother rushed him to a nearby hospital, but the young man was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Philadelphia police responded to the scene of the shooting near Fox Street and Roosevelt Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. They recovered two shell casings from the area. Investigators believe the shooting was an escalation of a road rage incident. At the time, authorities reported they were searching for a dark-colored vehicle carrying four individuals who were all wearing masks.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene, heading towards Ridge Avenue and the Schuylkill Expressway. As of the latest available reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the suspects remain unidentified. The police have urged any witnesses to come forward with information.
