In the late afternoon of a Monday in Philadelphia, tragedy struck on the 2900 block of Wishart Street. On March 19, 2018, at approximately 4:09 p.m., police responded to a call and discovered a grim scene inside a silver 2017 Mazda 6. Two men were inside the vehicle, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. One of the victims was Charles Williams, a 25-year-old Black male who resided on the 2900 block of Allegheny Avenue.
The other man was identified as 39-year-old Bryant McCoy.
Emergency responders rushed both men to Temple University Hospital, but their injuries proved to be fatal. Williams had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, one to his head, and several to his back. McCoy had been shot in the chest and back. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, neither man survived.
The investigation into the double homicide was launched by the Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Unit, later joined by the Office of Attorney General's Gun Violence Task Force. Despite their combined efforts, the case has remained unsolved. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murders of Charles Williams and Bryant McCoy. The case is one of many unsolved homicides in the city, leaving a family to mourn and a community still seeking answers and justice. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
