In the summer of 2023, the life of Richard Marlin Coles, a 34-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short on the streets of Philadelphia. On the evening of Saturday, July 22, what should have been a normal night turned into one of violence and loss. At approximately 9:46 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers were called to the 2300 block of North 26th Street.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Richard suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso.
The officers acted swiftly, placing him in their patrol car and rushing him to Temple University Hospital in an effort to save his life. Despite their efforts and the work of the medical staff, Richard Marlin Coles was pronounced deceased at the hospital. He was a resident of North Bouvier Street in Philadelphia. A celebration of his life was held on Monday, July 31, 2023.
