Daquan Doo Vashorn Clentscale, a 21-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on March 24, 2014, in Philadelphia, PA. Clentscale was a well-known figure in his community, often associated with a group called DIrty Block, which gained attention for their flashy lifestyle and expensive cars and clothes. However, this lifestyle also attracted envy and animosity from others.
The incident leading to Clentscale's death occurred in the Nicetown neighborhood of
Philadelphia. He was gunned down in front of a home on Kerbaugh Street near Nice, just after 9 p.m. The shooting was the result of a heated dispute over a woman with whom both Clentscale and the alleged killer, Basil Lewis, had been romantically involved. Lewis, aged 25, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder, reckless endangerment, and related offenses. He is currently being held without bail at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility.
The investigation revealed that Clentscale was shot multiple times in his face and torso, with a total of 13 shell casings found near his body. The gun allegedly used by Lewis, a 9 mm Glock pistol, was recovered with only one round left in it. Interestingly, Clentscale was also armed, as a 9 mm Ruger pistol was found between his feet when police arrived.
The case drew significant attention from the local community and law enforcement, with Chief Inspector Scott Small and Officer Leeloni Palmiero providing updates on the investigation. Despite the arrest and charges against Lewis, the family of Clentscale has remained largely silent, indicating they knew little about what motivated the shooting.
