Enyury Agustin Rodriguez, a 33-year-old man, was working his job as a pizza delivery driver on the evening of October 20, 2022, when his life was tragically cut short in the Fairmont section of Philadelphia. Originally from the Dominican Republic, he had moved to the city a decade prior and was the father of a five-year-old boy. The events of that night suggest he was the victim of a planned carjacking, a setup that would ultimately turn fatal.
On what seemed to be a routine delivery
call to a row home on Swain Street, Rodriguez was ambushed by three individuals. In a sudden and violent confrontation, a shootout erupted. Rodriguez, who was licensed to carry a firearm, apparently drew his weapon and exchanged fire with his attackers. During the gunfight, both he and one of the suspects were struck. Despite his efforts to defend himself, Rodriguez succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Shortly after the shooting, police found a 15-year-old male on a nearby street suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators quickly linked him to the attack on Rodriguez, believing he was shot during the exchange of gunfire. The teenage suspect was taken into custody and subsequently faced murder charges for his involvement in the death of Enyury Agustin Rodriguez. The tragic incident left a family mourning the loss of a son and a father who was working to support his young child.
