Jessica Crowder, a 36-year-old woman from Warren, Ohio, tragically lost her life on June 24, 2016. She was killed by her boyfriend, Roleigh Culver, during an argument over groceries at her home. The altercation escalated, leading to Culver shooting Crowder before turning the gun on himself. This incident was later determined to be a murder-suicide.
Crowder was remembered fondly by her family and friends as a compassionate and generous person who dedicated much of her time to volunteering
at the Warren Family Mission. Her death brought attention to the severe issue of domestic violence, as Culver had a history of domestic violence charges and had been convicted on three separate occasions. Despite this, Crowder had hoped for change and continued to return to Culver.
The Warren Family Mission held a memorial service to celebrate Crowder's life and to support her two children, aged 11 and 15, who were left behind. The community rallied around the family, with several anonymous organizations helping to cover funeral expenses.
