Donnelle R. Davenport, a 43-year-old African American male from Columbus, OH, tragically died on February 4, 2018. He was found shot multiple times inside his home by a friend who had broken a window to check on him. Davenport was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Davenport's death led to the arrest of Martin Lucky Wright, a 45-year-old man from New York City.
Surveillance video from Davenport's home showed Wright entering the home and heading to the same area where Davenport was found. Wright was later seen leaving the home with several bags of Davenport's personal property. Wright was charged with murder and given a $1.5 million bond.
Additionally, Sharayea Brown, a 27-year-old woman from New Jersey, and Damon Deveaux, a 55-year-old man from Columbus, were also implicated in the case. Brown was visiting Davenport at the time of the shooting and did not inform him that Wright was in the house. Deveaux was charged as the getaway driver. Court records indicated that Wright and Davenport had an ongoing feud about money.
Wright was sentenced in December 2021 to 24 years in prison after entering a guilty plea to charges of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery. Deveaux remains in custody awaiting trial.
