On October 5, 2019, six-year-old Lyric Melodi Lawson, a young African American girl from Cleveland, OH, tragically lost her life in a drive-by shooting. Lyric was asleep in her bed when multiple gunshots were fired into her home, and she was struck in the head. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
