In the Ensley neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama, a grim discovery was made on March 10, 2015. Jarvis Kawanz Bell, a 25-year-old Black male, was found deceased inside a Chevrolet Impala located on the 2700 block of Burrell Street, near Slayden Avenue. An investigation revealed that Bell had been fatally shot.
At the time of his death, Bell was slated to be a key witness in a 2012 murder trial against Jaymee Smith.
Despite this, authorities have indicated that they do not believe his murder was connected to his upcoming testimony. Instead, investigators suspect that Bell's death was the result of a drug transaction that turned violent.
The case of Jarvis Bell's death remains an open investigation. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Law enforcement continues to seek information from the public that may lead to a break in the case and bring closure to the family of Jarvis Bell, who was born on January 16, 1990, and was a member of the Lively Hope Baptist Church and an employee at Honda Manufacturing in Lincoln, Alabama.
