In the community of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, the life of Kendrick Pointer, a 36-year-old Black / African American man, was cut short on the evening of January 5, 2015. He was fatally shot outside of his residence at the Greens of Rivergate apartment complex. The incident unfolded when an unidentified man reportedly approached Pointer and opened fire.
Following the shooting, the assailant was seen escaping the scene.
According to information released by the Goodlettsville Police Department, the suspect fled in a light blue Ford Taurus or a vehicle of a similar body style, possibly a Mercury Sable. Another vehicle, a red SUV, was also reported to have been involved in the getaway. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Pointer was transported to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement officials launched a homicide investigation. Detectives appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Kendrick Pointer's death. Despite their efforts and the initial leads regarding the suspect vehicles, the case has remained a mystery.
To date, there have been no arrests announced in connection with the murder of Kendrick Pointer, and the case is still considered unsolved.
