On a tragic autumn evening in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, the life of 33-year-old Jerqune Bassham was abruptly cut short. On November 1, 2023, Bassham, a Black male, was discovered outside a local restaurant with a gunshot wound. Emergency services arrived at the scene and quickly transported him to Skyline Medical Center in an effort to save his life.
Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation into the shooting led detectives to identify 30-year-old Shaquan Lee Weber as the primary suspect. A manhunt for Weber ensued, and with the assistance of the Metro Nashville Police Department, he was located and apprehended in East Nashville on November 6, 2023. Following his arrest, Weber was charged with criminal homicide in connection with Bassham's death.
The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released as the investigation continues. Jerqune Bassham, who was born on December 4, 1989, was mourned by his family and friends in the wake of his untimely passing. His death left a void in the community, with many remembering him as a beloved individual. While an arrest has been made, the legal proceedings are ongoing as the case moves through the justice system.
