Joey Derek Squire, a 24-year-old African-American male, was tragically killed on January 2, 2012, in Durham, North Carolina. Squire was a senior at North Carolina Central University, majoring in jazz music. He was found in a breezeway at Bainbridge Apartments, located at 2907 Bainbridge Drive, with a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.
