On January 12, 2024, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Durham Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 800 block of Lee Street, near Alston Avenue in Durham, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 58-year-old Thomas Lee Edwards suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Edwards was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.
