On January 4, 2015, 20-year-old Dwight "DJ" Grayer was shot while sitting in his car at a traffic light at the intersection of North Duke Street and Horton Road in Durham, North Carolina. A gray car pulled up beside his vehicle, and someone inside opened fire. Grayer sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds months later in September, leading police to reclassify the case as a homicide. Despite investigations, the case remains unsolved.
