Abdul-Jalil Burnette, a 28-year-old Black man, was shot late on the morning of October 15, 2025, at The Village/Wellons Village Shopping Center area along North Miami Boulevard in east Durham. Officers were called just before 9:40 a.m. and found him wounded near the shops by Little Caesars; he was taken to a hospital, where he died.
