Derek Huggins Jr., a 19-year-old African American male, was tragically shot to death in Durham, North Carolina, on July 5, 2014. The incident occurred in the yard of a home located in the 3000-block of East Weaver Street around 1:40 a.m. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found Derek Huggins Jr. with multiple gunshot wounds.
