Carlton Walker Whitley, a 25-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on the night of July 21, 2015, in Wilmington, North Carolina. The incident occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the corner of Darlington and Metting roads. According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded to a reported dispute, which was later upgraded to shots fired.
