TyShaun D'Wayne Delts, a 25-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on April 5, 2022, in Wilmington, North Carolina. TyShaun was shot outside his grandmother's house near 11th and Chestnut streets. Despite being rushed to Novant Health NHRMC, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Wilmington Police Department launched an investigation into TyShaun's death, leading to the arrest of two suspects. The first suspect, Cameron Allen Gerald, a 21-year-old male, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Gerald appeared before a New Hanover County judge and was held without bond. The second suspect, Trey'Quan Deshaun Jenkins, also 21 years old, was later arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.
TyShaun's mother, Tracion Flood, expressed her disbelief that her son knew either of the suspects personally. The investigation into TyShaun's death is ongoing, with the Wilmington Police Department committed to seeking justice for the victim and his family.
