Louis Henry Fuqua, a 40-year-old male, was found shot to death at the Econo Lodge on Clanton Road in Charlotte, NC, on September 12, 2016. Fuqua was one of the suspects in the robbery and shooting of Union County teacher Ruijuan Guo, who was shot during an attempted robbery on September 9, 2016, and later died from her injuries. Police sources indicated that Fuqua was likely killed by other suspects to prevent him from talking to the authorities.
Following Fuqua's death, Michael Mandrell
Marble, aged 33, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Fuqua's killing. Marble turned himself in to the police and was identified as a suspect in the case. Additionally, three other individuals—36-year-old Michael Marble, 39-year-old Cecil Marble, and 34-year-old Keric Watt—were charged with murder in connection to Guo's killing. The charges included robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The investigation revealed that Fuqua participated in setting up the robbery but was unaware that Guo would be killed. Police believe that Fuqua's death was an attempt to keep him from providing information to the authorities about the robbery and shooting. Guo's fiancé, who was with her during the incident, has been fully cooperative with the investigation and is considered an innocent victim.
The cases of Fuqua and Guo's homicides are connected, and police continue to seek information from the public to aid in their investigation. A reward of up to $15,000 is still available for information related to the case.
