Caleb Flax, a 4-year-old boy, was asleep inside his family's home in northwest Charlotte, North Carolina, when a barrage of gunfire tore through the neighborhood during the early morning hours of September 20, 2026. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers were called to the 900 block of Grassy Patch Lane at approximately 3:00 a.m. after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
