Rayquan Levon Holmes, a 37-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on April 26, 2015, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Holmes was shot and subsequently drove himself to his girlfriend's house. His girlfriend then transported him to Carolinas Medical Center University, where he was pronounced dead by the emergency room staff. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the hospital for an assault with a deadly weapon call and began their investigation into the
incident.
The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred on South Hoskins Road. CMPD detectives interviewed Holmes' girlfriend to gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. In January 2017, nearly two years after the incident, an arrest was made in connection with Holmes' murder. Robert Daniels, Jr., an 18-year-old male, was arrested by Cumberland County Sheriff's deputies after warrants were issued for his arrest. Daniels was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. CMPD detectives interviewed Daniels following his arrest, and he was subsequently charged with the murder of Rayquan Holmes. The investigation into the case continued, with detectives working to uncover any additional information or evidence related to the shooting.
