Rayquan Levon Holmes, a 37-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on April 26, 2015, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Holmes was shot and subsequently drove himself to his girlfriend's house. His girlfriend then transported him to Carolinas Medical Center University, where he was pronounced dead by the emergency room staff. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the hospital for an assault with a deadly weapon call and began their investigation into the incident
