On August 22, 2006, 20-year-old Sanchase Lamar Beasley was fatally shot during a confrontation on Redwood Avenue in east Charlotte, North Carolina. A 12-year-old boy was also injured in the incident, sustaining a gunshot wound to the foot; he was expected to recover.

Following the shooting, authorities arrested two brothers in connection with the crime. Marquette Battle, 23, and Dominique Battle, 16, were taken into custody and charged with murder. Both suspects were held in the Mecklenbu ...
