Molly Carr Bridgers, a 45-year-old woman from Goldsboro, North Carolina, passed away on August 20, 2017. She was born in Goldsboro and was the daughter of Walter Thomas and Julie Talton Bridgers. Molly was a receptionist at Waynesborough Ophthalmology and was known for her love of animals, having rescued many dogs and cats. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and had received the Gold Award, the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. Molly was survived by her parents, her son David Thomas Odom, a special friend David Godwin, and Jeffrey Odom, the father of her son.
The circumstances surrounding Molly Carr Bridgers' death were tragic. On August 20, 2017, she was found lying outside of a car with a gunshot wound by a patron of Spike's Tavern who was leaving the bar around 1:30 a.m. An investigation by the police, along with an autopsy conducted at the North Carolina State Medical Examiner's Office, revealed that Molly Carr Bridgers died from an intentional self-inflicted gunshot wound. The police ruled her death as a suicide.
